Active English Program – Verano Puma 2025

Course Description

The “Active English” course is designed to improve the four fundamental English language skills:

Reading
Writing
Listening Comprehension
Oral Expression

Through a dynamic and engaging educational environment, students will have the opportunity to practice English in real and interactive situations. Instructors will guide the learning process, helping participants develop greater confidence and fluency in English.

Learning Methodology

Immersive Learning: Practice in real-life scenarios and dynamic interactions.
Active Conversations: Develop natural and fluent oral expression.
Experiential Exercises: Strengthen confidence in communicating ideas in English.
Cultural Exploration: A comprehensive approach covering language, customs, and culture.

Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Cost

$690.00 USD
55 hrs. of instruction
20% discount for the active UNAM community (valid UNAM ID)

Important Information & Registration Process

Have a valid tourist visa and passport
Be 18 years old or older
Have level 3 (B2) or higher
Have student health insurance (not mandatory but we recommend it) you can check our Health Insurance page to see if this is the right one for you.
The cost will include the academic course, visits to some museums, the River Walk, the Alamo and some other activities.
The program does NOT include: food, air or ground transportation, health insurance, immigration procedures, personal expenses, housing (we recommend Airbnb) and entrance fees to entertainment centers.
You will be given a UNAM ID so you can get a discount on the monthly VIA ground transportation pass, tickets to movie theaters and museums.
We recommend you bring light clothing as long as it is aligned with our student Dress Code policy from our Student Handbook, comfortable shoes and a sweater or light jacket.
To participate in the program, you must first take your placement test, please write to laurac@unam.mx requesting the placement test.
Please wait until we inform you that you are eligible for the program to make the payment for the program. *If for any reason the program does not open, we will refund 100% the cost paid to UNAM.
If we do not reach the capacity needed of students, you will be notified no later than July 2nd. UNAM San Antonio will only be responsible for reimbursing 100% of the course fee, so we suggest that you do not make any purchase of the trip before this notification. UNAM San Antonio is not responsible for any expenses incurred as a result of the course offered.
