Course Description

(Part A & B)

This course consists of 21 hours of instruction. Pronunciation courses include practice in distinguishing and reproducing difficult sounds through exercises for listening comprehension, speaking, and vocabulary development. These courses are equivalent to 2.1 CEUs.

Prerequisite: English Department approval required.

PART A Session Classes

This first section gives students instruction on pronunciation and provides the opportunity to listen to, pronounce, and repeat English word stress, sentence stress, and vowel sounds. Students will learn how rhythm and melody are used as signals in English. Through this section, students will improve their listening comprehension and pronunciation by studying the relationship between speaking and listening.

PART B Session Classes

This second section also provides instruction on pronunciation and offers students the opportunity to further improve their listening comprehension and pronunciation by studying the relationship between speaking and listening. Students will continue to learn how rhythm and melody are used as signals in English.

Prerequisite

Students must have completed Level 3 or possess equivalent knowledge.
