Spanish Language Certifications & Proficiency Tests
UNAM offers several certifications to certify your Spanish language skills, whether for general use (SIELE) or academic and professional settings (EXELEEA and DEES). These exams are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) standards.
Furthermore, UNAM San Antonio offers written and oral Spanish Proficiency Tests tailored for companies looking to gauge their employees’ language proficiency in professional environments. Please reach out to laurac@unam.mx for information on scheduling and exam fees.
SIELE
Spanish Language Certification Exam
SIELE is the International Evaluation Service for the Spanish Language that certifies your degree of Spanish proficiency. The exam can be taken online and in person at UNAM San Antonio for your convenience, and the results used for work, education, or other applications.

SIELE was created by the Cervantes Institute, the University of Buenos Aires, the University of Salamanca and the National Autonomous University of Mexico, which guarantees quality standards and good practices in the administration of the exam, as well as the use of different dialects of the Spanish language.
SIELE is made up four individual tests that cover all areas of Spanish language knowledge:
- Reading Comprehension
- Listening Comprehension
- Written expression an interaction
- Spoken expression an interaction
At UNAM San Antonio we offer the Global SIELE. However we can schedule special sessions for any of the four individual skills listed above, if anyone asks for it.

NOTE:
UNAM San Antonio is an authorized SIELE testing center. To schedule your exam, please contact laurac@unam.mx so we can open a registration slot for you on the SIELE platform. Once you have selected your date and paid the official exam fees, you must contact us again to process our local center service fee.
On the day of your exam, please arrive at our Center at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. You must bring the official identification (ID) used during registration, as well as your siele.org login credentials (email and password).
