GENERAL INFORMATION

Admissions: New students must be 18 years or older, complete an online application, and tuition payment. After payment has been received, a required placement test will be administered to determine the appropriate placement level for language courses.

Payment options: Payment can be made by credit/debit card (either at the school or through the Student Portal), cash, or check (a returned check fee will be $40.00).

Payment Plan (not applicable for student visa holders): Upon approval, a payment arrangement is available for students registered in full-time courses only (75 hours or more). The first payment will be due immediately, and the second will be scheduled to be charged automatically by credit card only and kept on file until the payment commitment is fulfilled. UNAM-San Antonio does not allow students to enter our programs until payment has been received. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that they follow through with any payment agreement made, whether they attend classes or not.

Books: Students are required to have books for their classes no later than the end of the first week of the session.

Attendance: A 90% attendance rate in each class is required to be eligible to take the final exam. Attendance is recorded on an hourly basis, and students are required to sign in upon arrival.

Unexcused absences are not permitted; however, it is the student’s responsibility to catch up on their studies. Excused absences are permissible and will not count toward your attendance; however, it is the student’s responsibility to make up any work with their instructor. Excused absences will be granted at the discretion of the instructor and the English Department. (Please see the Student Handbook for a detailed explanation.)

Expulsion: Any student who consistently violates the institution’s rules governing student conduct, attendance, and tardiness will be subject to disciplinary action, including a one-on-one conference with the English Department Chair, which could potentially lead to expulsion. All policies for admission and expulsion are located in the Student Handbook.

Therefore, out of respect for our teachers and students committed to learning a new language, UNAM-San Antonio has the following policies regarding class and/or teacher changes, course/class cancellations, withdrawals, and refunds.

REGISTRATION OPENS 30 DAYS BEFORE THE START OF EACH SESSION ONLINE. PLEASE REFER TO THE REGISTRATION DATES AND TIMES FOR IN-PERSON REGISTRATION. BE ADVISED THAT THE LAST DAY FOR IN-PERSON REGISTRATION IS ALSO THE LAST DAY TO REQUEST A REFUND. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU DECIDE TO DROP A COURSE AFTER THE REFUND DEADLINE, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU ATTENDED CLASS, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REFUND. WITH THIS IN MIND, PLEASE

UNAM-SAN ANTONIO RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CHANGE ANY CLASS AND/OR TEACHER.  CLASSES AND TEACHERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE  INSTITUTION. THE SCHOOL ALSO RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CLOSE, CANCEL, MODIFY,  OR DIVIDE COURSES.

UNAM-SAN ANTONIO RESERVES THE RIGHT OF ADMISSION, ENSURING THAT ALL APPLICANTS MEET THE NECESSARY CRITERIA FOR LEARNING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE FOR BOTH ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL PURPOSES.

ALL LEVELS AND TEACHERS WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ONCE THE REGISTRATION PROCESS HAS CONCLUDED.

ONCE PAYMENT IS MADE, THE STUDENT IS SUBJECT TO ALL POLICIES, TERMS, AND

CONDITIONS OF UNAM-SAN ANTONIO.
