Pronunciation Program \/ On-Site<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Course Description<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

(Part A & B)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This course consists of 21 hours of instruction<\/strong>. Pronunciation courses include practice in distinguishing and reproducing difficult sounds through exercises for listening comprehension<\/strong>, speaking<\/strong>, and vocabulary development<\/strong>. These courses are equivalent to 2.1 CEUs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prerequisite:<\/strong> English Department approval required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PART A Session Classes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This first section gives students instruction on pronunciation and provides the opportunity to listen to, pronounce, and repeat English word stress<\/strong>, sentence stress<\/strong>, and vowel sounds<\/strong>. Students will learn how rhythm and melody<\/strong> are used as signals in English. Through this section, students will improve their listening comprehension<\/strong> and pronunciation<\/strong> by studying the relationship between speaking and listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PART B Session Classes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This second section also provides instruction on pronunciation and offers students the opportunity to further improve their listening comprehension<\/strong> and pronunciation<\/strong> by studying the relationship between speaking and listening. Students will continue to learn how rhythm and melody<\/strong> are used as signals in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
